The best way to get glue out of hair is with acetone. You simply take a cotton pad, put some acetone on it, and hold it up to your hair for a few minutes to let the glue dissolve. After that, you can wash your hair normally, and it should all come out. The best acetone to use is Super Nail Pure Acetone Polish Remover because it is pure acetone without any fragrances. Don’t use this method if it is dyed, though, because it can strip your hair of the color.
How to Get Glue Out of Hair with Shampoo and Conditioner
By far the easiest and safest way to remove glue from hair is with shampoo and conditioner. You can do this in the bath or the shower, but you will need to shampoo your hair very gently to avoid hurting the scalp and rinse it out. After that, put conditioner in your hair and let it sit for at least 5 minutes before rinsing it out. When your hair is fully dry, you can gently brush through the area to see if there is any remaining glue. How to Get Glue Out of Hair
- First, gather all the hair that has glue in it. If it is in multiple areas, you will need to separate all the parts.
- From there, take a small amount of the conditioner of your choice and apply it to the parches of hair with glue, whether wet or dry.
- Once the conditioner is on, leave it for a few minutes to soften the glue and hydrate the hair around it.
- After that, very gently comb the conditioner through the glued pieces of hair. The glue should come off with the conditioner.
- Once you have combed out the glue, you can wash your hair normally; just be gentle in case any stubborn pieces of glue remain.
How to Get Glue Out of Hair with Alcohol
The method of removing glue from hair with alcohol is much the same as with acetone. Take some alcohol; we recommend Vaxxen Labs Isopropyl Alcohol 99%, put some on a cotton swab or pad, and gently dab it onto the glue in the hair. Do it until the glue breaks apart and comes free from the hair. Just like with acetone, this method is not recommended for those with color-treated hair as it can ruin certain colors.
How to Get Glue Out of Hair with Dishsoap
The last method for getting glue out of hair is by using dish soap. We recommend using Dawn Dish Soap Ultra Dishwashing Liquid, but you can use any liquid dish soap you have in your house already. This method is best for hair extension mishaps, but all you need to do is soak the glue in Dawn Dish Soap Ultra Dishwashing Liquid until the glue loosens and comes out, after which you can wash your hair normally, albeit carefully in case any little bits of glue remain.
You can choose any of these methods to get glue out of your hair before you resort to cutting it out with scissors. We recommend trying all of these methods first, with the exception of acetone on dyed hair. Good luck!
