How to Glue Rubber to Wood
- First prepare the rubber by degreasing it and then treating it chemically with either hydrochloric or sulfuric acid to ensure that it is ready for bonding.
- Then you will need to prepare the wood by leveling and sealing it. The sealing is particularly imporant for porous wood as it prevents the wood from simply absorbing the glue.
- Then you can take the adhesive of your choice and apply it first to the rubber and then to the wood, brushing it on.
- Press the rubber to the wood and then use either a clamp or tape to hold the rubber and wood together for the amount of time recommended by your adhesive of choice.
- Lastly, remove the clamp ir tape and check that it has bonded properly.
